This Blog was launched by NPR and KWED and features research in education, media, technology, and teaching strategies. Since 21st century learners are greatly connected to social media, networking sites and video games this website offers articles teaching responsibility online, how to protect privacy, and how parents can use these technology as tools. There are also links for keeping students engaged in the summer to prevent summer learning loss. This blog has articles that explain the benefits and challenges of less traditional schools and classrooms. Overall this is a great resource for any teacher.
Docere Est Discere, or “To teach is to learn” in English, was created by a new graduate who wanted to share the experiences from his first year teaching. Although my degree is not English Education, as this blogger’s degree was, they offer many great resources for teaching English. This blogger has posted in many other categories including classroom management, fun, classroom technology, and job hunting. I liked this blog because it gave first person student-teaching experience. It’s nice to see how new teachers are able to overcome difficult times and build relationships with students.
Science Teach Right is a blog written by a science teacher. He features posts related to science topics and also his time as a science teacher at a public school and a private Christian school. This author has great views and experience using the older methods of grading, adding up all the scores and finding the average, and standards based grading. He has made his classroom a more welcome place by allowing students to revise work. This makes getting an answer wrong ok, students are not afraid to get a wrong answer. Learning is a process, why shouldn’t grading? I like this blog because it offers personal stories and thoughts about in the inner workings of a classroom.
